Huercal Overa is one of the many beautiful towns of the Costa Almeria, located about 25 minutes inland from coastal resorts such as Mojacar, Garrucha and Vera Playa. The town is covered in rich greens and pine plantations. The forest of Huércal Overa abounds in almond, citrus and olive trees.

Traditions are still very important in Huercal Overa and there is a weekly market that takes over most of the town centre on Monday mornings and religious festivals and fiestas are also major events in the town. Of particular interest are the Easter "procesiones" which are now recognised as a national tourist attraction. The town offers great restaurants, bars, shops, supermarkets, leisure centres and a modern hospital.

San Javier (Murcia) and Almeria airports are within approx. an hours drive. Alicante airport is approx. 1 and half hours drive.
