Your property now in La Mata............... La Mata officially known as Torre La Mata is just north of, and now virtually joined to the bustling Costa Blanca town of Torrevieja. La Mata is a traditional Spanish village with one of the best beaches on the Costa Blanca. La Mata grew up around the salt industry. The history of salt production in La Mata goes back to Roman times. Nowadays the La Mata salt lake is part of a protected Natural Park (Parque Natural de La Mata y Torrevieja) and is an important refuge for many species of bird life.

La Mata is the location of a popular street market held every Wednesday. As with all Spanish towns and villages La Mata has its share of fiestas and celebrations including the Virgen del Carmen in July and the Virgen del Rosario in October. The village also offers a good selection of shops, bars and restaurants.

Both San Javier (Murcia) and Alicante airports are approx. 30 minutes drive.

Within 30 to 40 minutes you can drive to enjoy the Spanish culture in towns like Cartagena, Orihuela, Murcia, Elche and Alicante. There are theatres, galleries, safari park, water slide parks. And only an hours drive away you can visit the massive theme park of Terra Mitica.
